Petrea Imports was founded more than 20 years ago by Howard "Rusty" Petrea and his wife, Carol Petrea. Stationed in Italy for a time during his 27-year service in the U.S. Navy, Rusty explored Italian wine culture and developed relationships with many wine makers. After retirement, the couple became certified importers and wholesalers of boutique Italian wines.
The business was purchased in 2021 by Betsy Braddock of Sunset Beach, NC, a local builder and business leader in her own right. Her life-long love of fine wines makes her an ideal new proprietor of Petrea Imports.
Often we hear “Cheers” or “raise a glass” or “Saluti” to acknowledge others. When Betsy was a little girl, she often wandered to her next-door neighbor's home during "happy hour." Elderly neighbors Bea and Jimmy Fox always had some reason to celebrate! They would have a glass of wine or a cocktail and served Betsy a Coke in a special glass. Betsy thought they said “Up to You” instead of the traditional toasts. It has stuck with her all these years and is her sincere way of celebrating life, love, friends, family, and joy!
